The debate took place between the Humanist Progressive Party (HPP) and the Indian United Republic Party (IURP). This debate saw some change in the moderation and Apurva Ramakrishnan, Director of Grievance and general affairs joined the team.
The debate took off with an opening statement from The Humanist Progressive Party, where they emphasized on development of human beings in general and their approach towards this specific topic. They also talked about holistic humanism and how it is all about prioritizing human identity over other described identities like nationality, caste, and religion. They used the Anti conversion law as an example for holistic humanism specifically. HPP also emphasized on their transparent policies and how the government will not be hiding anything from the public whatsoever as they are here to serve them. With transparency they also highlighted their stance on sustainable development and how they are in complete support of it, they also mentioned that they have planned various positive steps towards achieving this goal of sustainability. This was followed by a point of information raised by IURP, which mainly focused on the agricultural and food policies mentioned in the manifesto.
This was followed by the opening statement from the Indian United Republic Party, “Lets march on for common prosperity” said the representative from IURP. In their opening statement they first and foremost mentioned how their party is inclusive in nature and also pointed out that the Vice President candidate of their party is a woman. The main areas of focus for them will be education, healthcare, sanitation, women empowerment and protection of minorities. They also emphasized on how they absolutely support the concept of equality. The other area that their party will be heavily focusing on is national security and infrastructural development. HPP raised the point of information right after their closing ceremony, asking them about how they are going to answer for the fact that their increase in investment in mid-day meals will directly result in filling the pockets of the richer class of the society rather than helping the poor. IURP replied with how they are planning on enforcing fair price shops or rations shops just for this.
Right after their opening statement a member of HPP was gagged for a round due to cross talking during the opposition’s statement. HPP opened their main argument with the question “what do you think a policy lacks? And how do we lack in the implementation of said policies?” which was followed by their stance on strengthening the right to information act and ensuring that all the data present related to the government as well as the citizens will be secured. They also emphasized on the fact that they will follow sustainable economics which will make sure that the policies made by business will keep in mind the good of the public.
IURP opened their main argument by stating that they have developed a manifesto after going through the manifestos of pre-existing governments so that they can avoid making the same mistakes. This party talked about women empowerment and construction of separate toilets for transgenders. There was no point of information raised after this statement.
HPP concluded their arguments by mentioning how transparent they aspire to be, not just about their finances but everything in general. They also aim to advance and modernize education for the betterment of society. Whereas IURP concluded their statements by ensuring the voters that they aim to provide maximum service to the nation and will try to be as inclusive as they can be. They also mentioned how they would work for the betterment of infrastructure and the fact that the economy will be their number one priority.
