HPP mentioned in their opening statement that their manifesto has mentioned the concern of cyber security and the fact that they have cyber protection laws prevalent and want to reduce the GST as well as corporate tax. A point of information was raised by IURP regarding the removal of death penalty, which is mentioned in their manifesto, the party answered by saying that they feel this would reform the crimes. IURP made a very generic opening statement talking about their vision for a better India.
The main argument of the IURP promised the fact that their party will always work for the citizens of India, and they firmly believe in the promises they make to the citizens. They believe in inclusive development furthermore they aim to break the myth of the non-inclusion of transgenders and have a vision to build toilets for them respectively. They went on to attack HPP’s manifesto stating that it was full of ‘hollow promises’, and the reforms that they have mentioned have already been prevalent in the past as well as the fact that they do not have a specific vision. They concluded by saying that they want to provide the citizens of India with as many programs as they can for the development of the society at large.
HPP started their main argument wrecking the policies mentioned in the opposition party’s manifesto. They argued that “you talk about us giving hollow promises but you yourself have not mentioned a specific way or roadmap in your manifesto”. They further state that the opposition has a lack of clarity and the fact that they talk about managing taxes without realizing how badly that might affect the budget. They concluded by speaking about the provisions they have incorporated in their manifesto regarding the modernization of the army, their creativity, skill and the benefits they will provide them with.
The closing statement commenced with IURP once again repeating that the RPP has made hollow promises and criticized their manifesto. IURP asserted their vision of nationalism and inclusive development, the inclusion of transgenders through building separate toilets for them and promoting the idea of equality, lastly, they supported and promoted the idea of sustainable development. They also ensured distributive justice.
RPP mentioned in their closing statement the policies mentioned in their manifesto which had not been brought to light and focused on them. HPP firmly believes in ideologies proposed by them and talked about healthcare, foreign affairs, green reforms, social audits and the civil society diaspora. They ended by mentioning the political reforms and the formation of a shadow cabinet along with the idea of the Prime Minister being directly answerable to the Parliament as mentioned in the manifesto.
